Protest ka haq.
Doosron ki rozi.
Markets carry rent, salaries and perishable stock even on closure days. The trader-body estimate makes that concern concrete. It does not convert a slogan into proof about funding.
CTI’s reported decline predates the 10 October rally. Announcement effects are plausible; chronology alone does not isolate a cause. Organisers’ methods, official restrictions and access arrangements all deserve scrutiny.

Sources, scope & the other side +
Sources rechecked 16 October 2026. Publication dates below refer to the original reporting.
- CJP’s own website
The funding slogan is an attributed quote, not a funding audit. The “bill” is a metaphor for costs borne by others; trader costs do not establish that CJP received funds.
- Business Today · 10 October 2026
Khan Market Traders Association president Sanjiv Mehra’s estimate: a closure day could cost ₹1–1.5 lakh per shop. Traders chose precautionary closure. This is a potential-loss estimate, not verified loss for every shop.
- The Pioneer / CTI · 9 October 2026
CTI reported a roughly 70% business decline in its survey for the preceding three days, and concern for 15 lakh Delhi traders. The article does not supply the survey dataset or methodology. These are separate scopes, not a national total.
The other side matters.
Peaceful protest, public safety and trader access are distinct interests. Precautionary closures, access restrictions and public concern can all affect trade. These sources do not isolate one cause or establish that organisers alone caused every reported loss.
CTI proposed Burari or Ramlila Maidan. The cited report does not establish a current booking, an announced government policy or a Khan Market association-to-government causal chain.
